Dengue fever is a killer that is preventable. Bangladesh has been gripped by a Dengue epidemic of late. There have been scores of death from the impact of the Dengue mosquito bite esp. in the Dhaka and Chittagong areas.
The spread of Dengue is preventable through awareness and taking appropriate measures. The BHDI has launched a campaign to undertake the following activities:
- Develop an awareness video with messages from experts and Bangladeshi celebrities to encourage people to take precautionary measures. This video will be spread through digital media.
- BHDI will hold 4 awareness camps in different parts of Dhaka most affected by Dengue
- Print and distribute 1300 t-shirts to Rickshaw drivers in Dhaka with the #stopdengue strapline to bring this issue to the forefront of people’s mind and encourage people to talk about it and seek information about preventing it
- Distribute mosquito nets, coils and other prevention artefacts to the most vulnerable people in the slums of Dhaka
